Forget Income Tax e-filing login password?
Its easy to change or reset e-filing password. e-Filing portal has given options to update password.
Following are the steps to change/reset Income Tax Password:
- Go to income tax website https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal
- Click on the Login. Enter the user id and click on continue.
- Click on forget password?
- Re-enter the User ID and Continue.
- Now there are three options to reset password.
- OTP on mobile number registered with Aadhar
- Upload Digital Signature Certificate
- Use e-filing OTP
6. OTP on mobile number registered with Aadhar
- Select the option and continue.
- Now there are two options (i) I already have an OTP on Mobile number registered with Aadhar, (ii) Generate OTP
- Select Generate OTP and continue.
- Select I agree to validate my Aadhar details and click Generate Aadhar OTP.
- Enter the OTP and verify.
- Enter and re-enter the new password and confirm.
7. Upload Digital Signature Certificate
- Select the option and continue.
- Now there are two options (i) New DSC, (ii) Registered DSC.
- If you have already registered your DSC on Income tax portal earlier select the registered DSC and if not then select New DSC.
- Select I have downloaded and installed emsigner utility.
- Select Provider, Certificate and Provider password and Sign.
- Enter and re-enter the new password and confirm.
8. Use e-filing OTP
- Select the option and it will show the registered Mobile number and Email Id.
- If you have both available then continue.
- Enter Date of Birth of assessee and continue.
- Enter both Mobile and Email OTP and verify.
- Enter and re-enter the new password and confirm.
